Hey everyone, I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my Wyze Sense PIR motion sensor, and I thought I’d share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered something similar or can offer some advice.
So, the setup is pretty straightforward: I’ve got a Wyze bulb connected to a rule that turns it on when the PIR detects motion and off after a minute of no motion. It works perfectly when everything is up and running, but there’s this odd behavior when there’s continuous motion in the room. The bulb turns off after the minute timeout, even if I’m still moving around. The PIR’s red light doesn’t show any activity during that time, which is confusing because I thought it was supposed to detect continuous motion without any cooldown period.
I’ve tried a few things to troubleshoot this. I’ve reset the sensor multiple times, checked the firmware for updates, and even tried adjusting the sensitivity settings. Nothing seems to make a difference. The weird part is that if I leave the room and come back a couple of minutes later, it works perfectly. It’s almost like there’s a cooldown period, which the documentation doesn’t mention.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’d love to hear if there’s a workaround or if I’m missing something in the settings. Maybe there’s a configuration tweak or a different rule setup that could help. I’m really hoping to get this sorted out because the sensor is a great product otherwise, and it would be a shame to have to replace it.
Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions you can share!
