Wyze Smart Plug Integration Success Story: Controlling a Heat Lamp for My Cat

I wanted to share my recent success with integrating a Wyze smart plug to control a heat lamp for my cat. After some research and experimentation, I managed to set it up perfectly, and it’s been a lifesaver during the colder months!

I purchased a Wyze smart plug specifically for this purpose, aiming to automate the heat lamp in my garage. The challenge was to ensure the lamp turns on when the temperature drops below a certain threshold and turns off once it warms up again. Initially, I thought this might be tricky, but after some digging, I found a solution using a combination of a temperature sensor and IFTTT (now Make).

I decided to use a Withings temperature sensor, which I already had, to monitor the garage temperature. Setting up the automation was straightforward: I created a rule in Make that triggers the Wyze plug to turn on when the temperature drops below 15°C and turns it off once it rises above 20°C. It’s been running smoothly for weeks now!

This setup not only keeps my cat comfortable but also saves energy by ensuring the heat lamp only runs when necessary. It’s amazing how these smart devices can make such a practical difference in our daily lives.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has similar setups or any tips for improving this system further. Happy automating! :cat::sparkles:
