Wyze Smart Plugs: Overcoming Connectivity Challenges

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Smart Plugs, specifically the 2021 model. I recently purchased an Archer A7 router to manage 20 of these plugs in a computer lab setting. At first glance, everything seemed to work smoothly, but over time, I noticed the plugs were losing their Wi-Fi connection and failing to reconnect automatically. This was particularly frustrating given the global pandemic context, where minimizing physical contact was crucial.

I tried a variety of troubleshooting steps, including disabling smart switching between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, completely shutting down the 5 GHz network, and manually setting the Wi-Fi channel to non-overlapping frequencies like 1, 6, and 11. Unfortunately, none of these adjustments made a difference. The plugs simply couldn’t maintain a stable connection.

After some research, I realized that the issue might lie with the plugs themselves rather than the router. They seem to require a constant internet connection, and even a brief interruption would cause them to drop offline. This led me to consider alternative solutions, such as using a different router or exploring plug firmware updates. While I haven’t found a perfect fix yet, I’m hopeful that with some persistence, I can resolve this connectivity challenge.

If anyone has encountered similar issues or has suggestions, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot these smart devices. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
