Wyze Thermostat and HRV Integration Challenges

However, my recent experience with integrating a Wyze thermostat in a new home with an interconnected HRV system has been quite the learning curve. The Setup:
I installed a Wyze thermostat in a newly built home equipped with an electric high-efficiency furnace, A/C, and an interconnected HRV system. The installation seemed straightforward, following the provided instructions, including adding a C module for power. Initial testing of both heat and cool functions worked perfectly, which was reassuring.

The Problem:
Later that day, I noticed the thermostat had gone offline—no display, no response to button presses, and the app indicated it was offline. After attempting standard troubleshooting steps like power cycling and reinstalling the app, the issue persisted. Upon closer inspection, I realized the HRV’s fan control circuit was intercepting the G circuit of the thermostat, causing a conflict.

The Discovery:
Through extensive checking, I inadvertently discovered that turning off the HRV powered the thermostat back on. This led me to hypothesize that the HRV’s operation was causing a voltage drop, preventing the thermostat from functioning correctly. The HRV, when powered on, seemed to draw enough current to reduce the 24V supply to around 5V, which is insufficient for the thermostat.

The Solution:
After some research and trial, I found that connecting an additional spare wire between the furnace and thermostat terminals to the C terminal on both ends resolved the issue. This provided a stable power supply, allowing the thermostat and HRV to coexist without interference.
