Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience installing the Wyze Video Doorbell v2. I’ve been using the v1 for a while now, and while it worked great, I was really excited to upgrade to the v2. However, the installation process was a bit tricky at first, so I thought I’d walk through it and share some tips that might help others.
First off, I removed my old doorbell chime from the wall because I never liked the look of it, and with the v1, I used a remote chime. Now, with the v2, I was a bit confused about how to hook it up since all the instructions I found assumed there was an existing chime in place. I have two wires—one black and one white—that run through a low-voltage transformer inside the wall. The instructions mentioned using a chime controller, but I wasn’t sure if I should connect the black to black and white to white through the controller or not.
After some trial and error, I figured out that I needed to use the chime controller to connect the wires properly. I ended up running the black wire to the controller’s hot terminal and the white wire to the neutral terminal. This setup worked perfectly, and now my doorbell is fully functional without the need for a chime on the wall. I also discovered that the v2 has improved video quality and motion detection, which makes it even better than the v1!
If anyone else is struggling with the installation, I’d recommend carefully reading the instructions and double-checking the wiring connections. It might also help to look up some online tutorials or forums for additional guidance. Overall, I’m really happy with the upgrade, and I hope this helps someone else who’s going through the same process.
