Xiaomi Aqara Relay Integration in Home Assistant

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the Xiaomi Aqara wireless relay controller into my Home Assistant setup. While most of my devices work seamlessly, this one has been a bit of a puzzle. Let me walk through my journey and hopefully help others who might be facing similar issues.

First off, I’ve been using the Aqara relay for a while now, and it’s been a reliable addition to my setup. However, I noticed that while I could control it through the Mi Home app, it wasn’t showing up in Home Assistant alongside my other devices. This was a bit frustrating, especially since I’ve successfully integrated other devices like power plugs without any issues.

I started by checking the logs, and I found an error message indicating that the device wasn’t supported due to the gateway firmware. It mentioned that updating the gateway firmware was the only solution. Hmm, I wasn’t sure if my gateway was outdated or if there was another workaround. I decided to give the firmware update a shot.

After updating the gateway firmware, I retried the integration process. To my delight, the Aqara relay appeared in Home Assistant without any further issues! It was a bit of a relief, and now I can control it alongside my other devices seamlessly.

This experience taught me the importance of checking firmware versions and logs when troubleshooting device integrations. If you’re facing similar issues, I recommend checking your gateway’s firmware first. It’s a simple fix that can save a lot of headaches.

I’d love to hear if others have had similar experiences or if there are alternative solutions out there. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other overcome these little hurdles! :rocket:
