Yale Smart Lock Code Issue and Resolution

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Yale Keyless Connected smart lock. After using it reliably for several years, I encountered an issue where the lock started displaying an error message: ‘Back Door Lock IS CONFIGURED TO ACCEPT 0 DIGIT CODES ONLY, PROGRAMMING WILL FAIL!’. This was puzzling because all my access codes were still working, but I was concerned about future updates or changes.

I did some research and reached out to support, but the responses were slow. After some troubleshooting, I realized the issue might be related to the SmartThings driver or the RBoys Lock User Manager (LUM) app. I remembered that under the old SmartThings platform, I had to install a specific driver directly from RBoys, but after the platform migration, I hadn’t made any changes myself.

I decided to test the lock by changing a single code, hoping it wouldn’t disrupt the system. Thankfully, the update went smoothly, and the error message disappeared. It seems the problem was a temporary glitch in the driver or app, and the lock itself was still functioning correctly.

To prevent future issues, I made sure to update all my codes and monitor the lock closely. I also reached out to the community for advice, and others suggested keeping the firmware updated and being cautious with code changes. This experience taught me the importance of regular maintenance and staying informed about platform updates.

If anyone else is facing similar issues, I recommend checking for firmware updates, contacting support if necessary, and being patient during the troubleshooting process. It’s always reassuring to know that the community is here to help!

Best regards,
Andy
