Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Z-Wave 700 series controllers after encountering some significant issues. I recently tested a Zooz ZST10 700 series controller with zwavejs2mqtt and ran into problems that made the stick inoperable. Issues included a flooded Z-Wave network leading to slow performance, lost nodes, and an inability to update firmware on light switches from the PC controller.
After some research, I found that many users with 700 series controllers from various manufacturers are reporting similar problems. The main issues seem to occur on networks that are busy, large, or contain battery-powered devices. When too many reports flood the controller, it becomes blocked and fails to send messages, causing end nodes to resend messages repeatedly and worsening the situation.
While the developers are working with Silabs to resolve these issues, a reliable workaround is to migrate back to a 500 series controller using the migration tool provided. This has been a temporary solution for me, and I hope the 700 series issues will be resolved soon. If anyone has additional insights or solutions, I’d love to hear them!
