Z-Wave Battery Optimization and Wake-Up Intervals

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with optimizing battery life on my Z-Wave sensors. I recently upgraded my garage door tilt detectors to Zooz ZSE43 sensors, and while they’re fantastic in terms of functionality, I noticed that the battery consumption was higher than expected. Initially, I used the default wake-up interval of once an hour, but I started to wonder if that was really necessary for my setup.

After some research and experimentation, I decided to adjust the wake-up interval to a longer duration. I found that setting it to every 3 hours significantly reduced battery drain without affecting the sensor’s responsiveness. This small tweak has made a big difference in the longevity of the batteries, which is a huge plus for me.

I also discovered that tweaking other configuration parameters, like the sensitivity settings, can help reduce unnecessary wake-ups. For instance, adjusting the shock sensitivity on the tilt sensors prevented false triggers when the garage door was being used normally.

If anyone else is experiencing high battery consumption with their Z-Wave devices, I highly recommend checking the wake-up interval and other configuration settings. It’s a simple adjustment that can make a world of difference. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
