Z-Wave Firmware Updates Made Easy with Homey

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices and wanted to share my recent success with firmware updates using Homey. I’ve always been a bit hesitant about updating Z-Wave devices because it involves excluding and re-including them, which can mess up all the flows you’ve set up. But I stumbled upon a solution that’s been a game-changer for me!

So, here’s what I did: I upgraded to the latest test version of the Aeotec App and got myself an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5. The key here is adding the Z-Stick as a secondary controller. It doesn’t create its own mesh but integrates seamlessly into Homey’s existing setup. This means I can update firmware without disrupting my flows!

I’ve successfully updated a few devices now, and it’s been smooth sailing. However, I did run into an issue with my Fibaro sensors—they stubbornly refused to update through this method. But hey, I’ve got a Fibaro Home Center 2, so I just updated them there instead. It’s all about finding the right workaround!

If anyone’s curious about the process or needs a hand, feel free to reach out! I’d love to help others avoid the hassle I went through initially. Happy updating everyone! :rocket:
