I recently decided to integrate my garage door system into my smart home setup using openHAB2 and the AEON ZW062 garage door controller. This was my first foray into Z-Wave devices, and I must say, it’s been quite an adventure! ![]()
Initially, everything seemed to be going smoothly. The controller was recognized by openHAB2, and I could see the garage door status updates in real-time. However, the real challenge came when I tried to control the door. No matter how I configured it through Paper UI or HabMin, I couldn’t get the door to open or close remotely. The alarm prompt was also a constant annoyance that I couldn’t disable. ![]()
After spending hours troubleshooting and pouring over forums, I realized that the issue might be with the device driver configuration. I had manually added the driver after adding the device, which might have caused some conflicts. I decided to try a different approach: adding the device driver first before pairing the garage door controller. This time, the results were nothing short of amazing! The door now responds perfectly to commands, and the alarm prompt is a thing of the past. ![]()
I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is struggling with similar issues. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, the order in which you configure things can make all the difference. Huge thanks to the openHAB community for their invaluable resources and support! ![]()
If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Z-Wave device integration, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep learning and improving our smart home setups together! ![]()
