Z-Wave Integration and Network Security Key

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave integration with Home Assistant and wanted to share my experiences and questions with the community. I recently had some trouble adding Z-Wave light switches, which ended up creating phantom devices. After some research, I discovered that using the Zensys Z-Wave PC Controller 5 software was a game-changer. It allowed me to add those troublesome devices seamlessly, and once I reconnected the USB adapter to Home Assistant, everything was recognized perfectly.

This got me thinking about optimizing my setup further. I have a Windows Surface tablet lying around, and I was hoping to use it as a mobile Z-Wave controller. The idea is to plug in the USB adapter, add all my devices using the Zensys tools, and then switch back to Home Assistant. However, I’m a bit stuck on how to integrate my Z-Wave network key from Home Assistant into this process. Does anyone have experience with securely joining locks and other devices using the Zensys software?

I’m also curious if others have encountered similar issues with devices not being recognized properly. For instance, each problematic light switch initially appeared with the same name, and only one entity was created. I found that renaming them and restarting Home Assistant helped, but I’m not sure if this is a reliable long-term solution.

If anyone has tips or tricks for managing Z-Wave devices more efficiently, I’d love to hear them. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’m excited to continue learning and improving my setup. Happy automation everyone! :rocket:
