Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience and hopefully help others who might be facing similar issues. A few weeks ago, I updated my Home Assistant setup to the latest version, which included migrating my Z-Wave devices to the Z-Wave JS integration. I’ve been using Z-Wave for a while now, and everything was working smoothly until this update. One of my Aeotec Home Energy Meters stopped communicating after a few hours, which was quite puzzling since the other meter of the same model worked without any issues.
At first, I thought it might be a temporary glitch, so I tried healing the network and rebooting the system. Unfortunately, none of these steps worked. The only way to get the device back online was to adjust one of its Z-Wave parameters through the configuration menu. This process was a bit frustrating, but it gave me some insight into how the device behaves post-update.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that this issue isn’t isolated. A few others have reported similar problems with Z-Wave JS after migration. It seems like certain devices are more sensitive to the new integration, especially those that were working flawlessly before. I’ve been experimenting with different configurations and settings to find a more permanent solution, and I’m happy to share what I’ve learned so far.
One thing I’ve noticed is the importance of regular firmware updates for Z-Wave devices. Ensuring that all my devices are running the latest firmware has helped stabilize the network. Additionally, I’ve started monitoring the network more closely using the Z-Wave JS UI, which provides detailed insights into device activity and health. This tool has been invaluable in troubleshooting and maintaining a stable setup.
I’d love to hear from others who might have encountered similar issues or have tips on how to improve the reliability of Z-Wave JS devices. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other overcome these challenges!
