I’ve been experiencing some significant Z-Wave network latency issues after updating my OpenHAB installation from version 2.1 to 2.5.2. This update was supposed to bring improved stability and new features, but instead, I’ve noticed a dramatic increase in response times—commands now take around 10 minutes to go through, which is a huge inconvenience compared to the previous 5-10 second average.
I’ve tried both a clean install and a manual update, and the issue persists. My setup includes two Aeon Z-Wave sticks managing separate networks: one with over 50 nodes and another dedicated to two secure lock devices. Interestingly, both sticks exhibit the same latency behavior post-update, which suggests it’s not hardware-related.
I’ve reviewed debug logs and noticed patterns similar to those described in other forum threads, particularly the CAN messages mentioned in the SOLVED thread about Z-Wave network issues after updating to 2.5. However, my experience differs slightly, as the latency isn’t entirely consistent with what others have reported.
To troubleshoot, I’ve isolated the secure stick and ensured no interference between the two networks. I’ve also considered rolling back to the older, stable version of OpenHAB, but I’d prefer to resolve this on the newer platform if possible.
If anyone has encountered similar issues or has insights into potential fixes, I’d greatly appreciate your input. I’m considering reaching out to the OpenHAB community for more targeted assistance, but I wanted to share my experience here in case others are facing the same problem.
Let’s hope we can find a solution soon—this latency is making my smart home feel anything but smart! ![]()
