I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave and it’s been quite an adventure! After upgrading my Z-Wave network to version 5.0.14, I encountered some unexpected issues. Specifically, I couldn’t add new devices, heal the network, or repair links. While removing devices worked fine, the inability to add new ones was puzzling. The event viewer didn’t show any activity when attempting to add or heal the network, which was unusual given my previous experience with Z-Wave.After some research and troubleshooting, I noticed that when trying to add a device, the event viewer briefly showed a detection message but nothing followed. Rebooting the ISY and leaving it off for a few minutes didn’t resolve the issue either. I reached out to the community for advice, and several helpful tips came my way. One suggestion was to check for firmware updates on my Z-Wave devices, which I had not done recently. Updating the firmware on a few devices seemed to stabilize the network, though the core issue of adding new devices persisted.I also considered the possibility of interference or signal strength issues. My Z-Wave network is quite extensive, so adding a repeater might help extend the range and improve communication. I’m currently looking into compatible repeaters that can integrate seamlessly with my setup. Additionally, I’m exploring the logs more deeply to identify any recurring patterns or errors that could pinpoint the issue. This experience has been both frustrating and enlightening. It’s reminded me of the importance of regular maintenance and firmware updates in keeping a smart home network running smoothly. I’m hopeful that with some more tweaking and the help of the community, I’ll get my Z-Wave network back to full functionality. If anyone has encountered similar issues or has further insights, I’d love to hear from you!
