Z-Wave Node Stability and Integration Tips

Hi everyone, I’m currently in the process of migrating from Homeseer to OpenHab2 on a Raspberry Pi3, and I’ve encountered an interesting challenge with my Z-Wave nodes. They occasionally toggle between online and offline states, which is a bit perplexing. I’ve set up my Things/Items using PaperUI and have some basic rules in place, which seem to work fine most of the time. However, this intermittent connectivity issue is something I need to resolve.

I’m using a HomeSeer SmartStick+ as my Z-Wave stick and running OpenHAB 2.2.0-1. I’ve enabled DEBUG logging for the Z-Wave binding and noticed some patterns in the logs. For instance, NODE 9 goes from offline to online and back again. It looks like there’s a timeout issue during message transmission, which causes the node to be marked as DEAD after a few attempts. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced similar behavior and if there are any troubleshooting steps I can take.

On a different note, I’ve also been exploring ways to integrate my Ubiquiti Unifi ecosystem into OpenHab. I’ve heard there are some community-developed nodes, but they don’t seem to cover all the features I need, especially around Unifi access point synchronization. If anyone has experience with this or knows of any resources, I’d greatly appreciate the insight!

In the meantime, I’m going to try resetting my Z-Wave network and checking for any firmware updates for my nodes. I’ll also look into adjusting the transmission priorities in the Z-Wave binding settings to see if that helps stabilize the connections. If anyone has specific recommendations or success stories with similar setups, please share!

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions. It’s amazing how this community comes together to solve challenges and share knowledge. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
