Z-Wave Panic Button Integration and Alarm Report Insights

I recently added the Z-Wave BeNext Panic Button to my home automation setup, and I must say, the process was smoother than I expected thanks to the support from the community and Chris’s guidance. The panic button is a crucial addition to my security system, and I’m thrilled with its basic functionality. However, I’ve encountered an intriguing issue that I’d like to discuss and seek advice on.

During the middle of the night, the panic button triggered an unexpected alarm report. While the device itself seems to function correctly, the alarm report at 05:31:52.135 caught my attention. I’m curious if this behavior is by design or if there might be an underlying issue. The alarm value remained ON, which made me wonder if the sensor is intended to send such alerts periodically or if it’s a malfunction.

I’ve attached a snippet from the Z-Wave log file for reference. The sequence shows the sensor waking up at 05:31:51.426, followed by a battery report at 05:31:51.916, and then the alarm report. This pattern is consistent, but the alarm report feels out of place. Could this be a false positive, or is there a specific reason for this behavior?

Additionally, I’ve noticed recurring Neighbor Update Failed messages in the logs. I’m not entirely sure how critical these are, but I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues and how they resolved them.

On a positive note, the panic button has added a significant layer of security to my home, and I’m eager to fully understand and optimize its functionality. If anyone has insights or suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate hearing from you!

Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!
