Z-Wave Recall Program and Smart Plug Metering Issues

Hello everyone! I’ve been really enjoying my Vera system and the Z-Wave integration, but I recently stumbled upon an interesting issue that I thought I’d share with the community. I came across the news about the Z-Wave chip recall program for the black dongles, and I was curious to see if anyone else had experienced the same problems or had any tips on how to smoothly transition to the new dongle. I managed to check my dongle version, and luckily, mine wasn’t affected, but it’s definitely a relief to know that MCV/Mios is addressing this issue proactively.

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with my Mercator smart plugs and noticed something peculiar with the metering data. The numbers were way off, showing an absurd amount of power usage. It was a bit frustrating, but I did some digging and found that it’s a known issue with the TS011F model. I ended up submitting a feature request to the zigpy project, and I’m hoping they might look into it. I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered this or has a workaround.

I’m also curious about how others handle their Z-Wave networks during a dongle swap. Did anyone have to rebuild their network from scratch, or was the backup/restore process as smooth as advertised? Any tips on ensuring a seamless transition would be greatly appreciated!

Overall, I’m really impressed with how the community comes together to troubleshoot and share solutions. It’s these kinds of experiences that make me appreciate the open-source ecosystem even more. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
