Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating a NodOn Z-Wave remote with Home Assistant using Z-Wave JS. I’ve been exploring the world of smart home automation, and this project was a bit of a learning curve, but it turned out to be a rewarding experience.
Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by the setup process. I came across a blueprint that someone had shared, which was a great starting point. I decided to tweak it to better suit my needs, especially focusing on supporting double taps, long presses, and release actions. I also wanted to ensure compatibility with both the Octan and Soft remotes from NodOn.
The journey involved a lot of trial and error. I spent hours tweaking the blueprint, testing each feature to make sure it worked as intended. One of the challenges was ensuring that the remote communicated reliably with my Home Assistant instance. I had to adjust some settings in the Z-Wave JS configuration to optimize performance.
