Z-Wave Response Time Issues and Potential Fixes

After years of seamless operation with my Z-Wave switches on a v2 hub, I’ve recently encountered frustratingly slow response times, both through Alexa and the app. Lights now take over 30 seconds to respond to commands, and my open/close sensors are equally sluggish. This is a significant downgrade from the instantaneous reactions I’ve grown accustomed to. I’ve tried troubleshooting by resetting automations and restarting the hub and Alexa devices, but the issue persists.

I’ve read about potential fixes related to firmware updates for Z-Wave devices, particularly addressing issues with 700-series sticks. It seems that busy networks or those with battery-powered devices might be more susceptible to these delays. While I haven’t updated my hub firmware yet, I’m hopeful that this could resolve the issue.

For anyone else experiencing similar problems, I’d recommend checking for firmware updates and ensuring that your network isn’t overly saturated with devices. If the issue continues, migrating to a 500-series stick might be a temporary workaround until the 700-series issues are fully resolved. Let me know if anyone has found a more permanent solution—I’m eager to get my system back to peak performance!
