Z-Wave Setup Tips and Govee Heater Experience

I recently upgraded my Home Assistant setup from a Raspberry Pi 3 to a Raspberry Pi 4, and it was a bit of a learning curve. One of the biggest challenges was getting my Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5+ to work properly with Z-Wave devices. At first, I couldn’t get the stick to pair devices through Home Assistant, which was frustrating. However, I discovered a helpful workaround by using a USB hub to connect the Z-Stick to the Pi. This solved the pairing issue, and now everything works seamlessly! :tada:

Another hurdle was pairing my GoControl garage door opener. It wouldn’t show all the entities until I realized it was due to unsecure pairing mode. After some research, I found that resetting the device and pairing it again in a secure mode fixed the problem. It was a bit time-consuming, but it was worth it to get everything working smoothly.

I also wanted to share my experience with the Govee Smart Heaters. I recently purchased a couple of H7134 models to test out in my living room. They’ve been fantastic! The ability to schedule them to turn on and off at specific times has been a lifesaver, especially during the colder months. Plus, the app integration is seamless, making it easy to control them from anywhere.

For anyone else struggling with Z-Wave devices, here are a few tips:

  • Always ensure your devices are unpaired from any previous controllers before pairing them with your new setup.
  • If you’re having trouble pairing, try using a USB hub to connect your Z-Stick to your Raspberry Pi.
  • Don’t forget to check the firmware versions of your devices and the Z-Stick itself—updates can often resolve unexpected issues.

Overall, while Z-Wave can be a bit tricky at times, the satisfaction of getting everything working perfectly makes it all worthwhile. I’m really happy with how my setup turned out, and I hope these tips can help someone else avoid some of the common pitfalls! :rocket:
