The system began to experience intermittent issues, where sensors would drop off the network, forcing me to repeatedly remove and re-pair them. This was frustrating, to say the least.
In an effort to stabilize the system, I explored other options, including the SmartThings hub and Vera controller. While these solutions offered some improvements, they weren’t without their own set of challenges. The Vera hub, for instance, would frequently go offline, requiring manual reboots. Despite these issues, I remained committed to finding a reliable Z-Wave setup.
Fast forward to the present, and I’ve found that the integration of Z-Wave within HAss has improved significantly. The process is now much smoother, though the occasional sensor dropout still occurs. I’ve also experimented with the SmartThings integration, which has proven to be more stable but introduces its own set of headaches, particularly with authentication tokens.
What I’m curious to know is: What setups have worked well for others? Are there specific controllers or sensors that have consistently performed better? I’m particularly interested in hearing from UK users who might have encountered similar challenges. Additionally, I’d love to know if others have found solutions to the polling intensity issues mentioned in some documentation, as this could potentially help stabilize my setup further.

The platform has transformed my home in ways I never imagined, and I’m eager to continue learning and growing with it.
