Z1 pro SEA switch possibility to convert all to multifunction

Hi, not sure which subforum to post this in

I’m tinkering around with the Z1 pro SEA switch, both the 2 and 4 gang switches. I’m just wondering why the first 3 switches cannot be converted to multifunction switches (single, double, long press) like the 4th switch on the 4-gang version? Is there some sort of hardware limitation? Or can this feature be pushed out in the future with a firmware update?

Thank you

@teojm37 On the Z1 Pro 4-gang, the “special” behavior of the 4th button is basically by design: the 4-button version is actually 3 relay channels + 1 dedicated wireless switch button (the bottom key), and that wireless button is the one that supports single / double / long press via automations. The other buttons are relay keys first, so they don’t behave like a full multi-function wireless key in the same way. So yes—there’s a hardware/role separation going on: the first 3 keys are tied to physical relays, while the 4th key is implemented as a wireless key. As for “can this be enabled later via firmware”: I haven’t seen anything in the published info that suggests the relay keys can be turned into full multi-function wireless keys like that 4th button, so I can’t confidently say it’s coming.

If you’d like to request it as a feature (e.g., “allow relay keys to support multi-function events”), the best route is to submit it directly:
