Zigbee Network Reliability and Optimization Tips

Hello, fellow smart home enthusiasts! I wanted to share my experience with setting up a Zigbee network using a Homey PRO and a variety of Zigbee devices, including sensors, light controllers, and smart bulbs from different brands like IKEA, SONOFF, and TuyaZigbee. While I’ve managed to create a functional setup with over 40 devices across a 90-square-meter space, I’ve encountered some reliability issues that I’m eager to resolve.

The main challenge I’ve faced is intermittent signal loss between the Homey PRO and some of the Zigbee devices. This issue seems to occur sporadically, sometimes affecting all devices and other times only specific ones. To mitigate this, I’ve implemented a workaround by setting all Zigbee apps to reboot every 2 hours and the Homey itself to reboot once daily or when no one is home for more than 10 minutes. While this approach has improved stability, it feels a bit cumbersome and not ideal for a seamless user experience.

I’m curious to know if others have faced similar challenges and how they’ve addressed them. Have you found specific configurations or best practices that enhance Zigbee network reliability? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

On a positive note, I’ve been impressed by the versatility and integration capabilities of the Homey PRO, especially with such a diverse range of Zigbee devices. It’s rewarding to see the ecosystem come together, even with the occasional hiccups. I’m hopeful that with some fine-tuning and the community’s wisdom, I can achieve a more robust and reliable setup.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and tips!
