ZigBee Repeater and Automation Troubleshooting Tips

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of ZigBee and automation lately, and I thought I’d share some of my experiences and tips in case they can help others. :rocket:

First off, I’ve been dealing with a ZigBee lock and some leak sensors around my home. Initially, everything seemed to work fine, but I noticed that the batteries were draining much faster than expected. After some research, I realized that the SmartSense outlet I had installed was acting as a repeater, boosting the signal and reducing battery drain. Without it, the devices were struggling to communicate with the hub, hence the rapid battery depletion. :signal_strength:

I decided to invest in an Orvibo ZigBee light controller as a repeater. It’s been a game-changer! The setup was super easy—just plug it in, and it started repeating signals without any additional configuration. I was also curious if using it as an RGB LED controller would interfere with its repeater function, but so far, it’s working perfectly on both fronts. :bulb:

On the automation side, I’ve been tweaking my garage door opener. The automation is triggered when I come home and my phone connects to my car’s Bluetooth unit. It’s worked seamlessly most of the time, but there have been a couple of instances where it didn’t trigger. After some digging, I found that the issue was related to the timing of the Bluetooth connection and the person tracking sensor. Ensuring that all components are up to date and properly configured has helped reduce these hiccups. :hammer_and_wrench:

I’d love to hear from others who’ve tackled similar challenges or have tips for improving automation reliability. Also, if anyone has recommendations for affordable ZigBee repeaters or alternative solutions for boosting signal strength, I’d be thrilled to hear about them! :hugs:

Let’s keep the smart home journey fun and frustration-free! :star2:
