Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with Zigbee2mqtt after having it running in my smart home setup for a while now. It’s been a fantastic addition, but I did run into some stability issues that I thought I’d document here in case others are experiencing the same thing.
Initially, everything worked smoothly—my Zigbee buttons and sensors were responding perfectly. However, after a few weeks, I noticed that the integration would occasionally stop working. The buttons wouldn’t trigger any actions in Home Assistant, and the only solution was to restart the Zigbee2mqtt add-on. While this was a temporary fix, it was frustrating to deal with, especially since I couldn’t pinpoint exactly when the issue occurred.
After doing some research, I discovered that the Zigbee2mqtt add-on does generate logs, which turned out to be incredibly helpful. I started monitoring these logs more closely and noticed patterns that indicated connectivity issues with certain devices. Armed with this information, I was able to identify that one of my sensors was intermittently causing the network to drop.
To address this, I reached out to the community and found some excellent advice. One tip that stood out was ensuring that all my Zigbee devices are properly coordinated and that the network is optimized for stability. I also learned that keeping the Zigbee2mqtt firmware up to date is crucial for maintaining performance.
Another thing I tried was adjusting the power supply for my Zigbee coordinator. Ensuring it has a stable and sufficient power source made a world of difference. I also started using a USB extension cable to keep the coordinator away from potential interference from other devices.
If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I highly recommend checking the logs and ensuring all your devices are in good working order. The community here has been fantastic, and I’m grateful for all the support and resources available. Happy automating everyone! ![]()
