Zooz Shock Sensor ZSE43: A Smart Solution for Mailbox Monitoring

Hello everyone, I’m currently exploring ways to enhance the security of our mailbox with a vibration sensor. After some research, the Zooz 800 series ZSE43 caught my attention. It’s compact, has a long Z-Wave range, and seems perfect for my needs. However, I’ve encountered a few challenges that I’d love to discuss with the community.

First, finding this sensor has been a bit of a puzzle. It’s sold out at the only retailer I’ve found so far, and I can’t seem to locate it on Amazon, eBay, or the Zooz website. If anyone has any tips on where to purchase this sensor, I’d be incredibly grateful!

Another concern is the mailbox itself—it’s made of metal, which might interfere with the sensor’s signal. Zooz does offer a waterproof case, which could be a solution. But I’m wondering if mounting the sensor on the inside of a metal door is even feasible. I’d love to test it out, but without a sensor, it’s a bit of a dead end!

Has anyone successfully used the Zooz ZSE43 in a similar setup? Any insights or workaround suggestions would be fantastic. I’m really hoping to find a reliable solution to monitor our mailbox without any signal issues.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
