Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Zooz ZSE40 V2 4-in-1 sensor, specifically the motion detection feature. I’ve been struggling with getting consistent motion detection, and I thought I’d document my journey in case it helps someone else.Initially, I noticed that the motion sensor wasn’t detecting any movement, even when I was right in front of it. I tried everything from adjusting sensitivity settings to re-pairing the sensor with my hub. Nothing worked until I manually woke up the sensor using a paperclip. It detected motion once, but then went back to not detecting anything. After some research, I realized that the sensor has a low-power mode to conserve battery life. This means it doesn’t actively scan for motion all the time. To make it work for my use case—turning on lights when motion is detected—I needed to ensure it stays active. Here’s what I did:1. Increased Sensitivity: I set the motion sensitivity to the highest level in the settings. This helps it pick up even the slightest movements.2. Manual Wake-Up Routine: I created a simple routine where the sensor is manually woken up periodically using a smart switch. This ensures it stays active without draining the battery too quickly.3. Positioning: I made sure the sensor is positioned optimally, away from direct sunlight and other sources of interference.The combination of these steps has made a huge difference. Now, the motion sensor reliably detects movement, and my lights turn on as intended.
