3 Way Switches Not Working Properly... Help Please

Having an issue using my 3 way switches I purchased. I am trying to run them so that they work like standard 3 way switches. I have it wired properly, even had my electrician look at it since it wasnt’ working properly. Wiring runs from the Aqara 3way switch to regular 3 way switch to the light. When I turn off the regular 3 way switch, the Arara switch no longer works. Can’t figure out what I am doing wrong.

@smgron It sounds like you’re experiencing a tricky situation with your 3-way switch setup. Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of it. Based on the reference information, it’s crucial to ensure that the wiring is done correctly according to the specific requirements for the Aqara Light Switch H2 US. Here are a few tips that might help:

  1. Wiring Configuration: The Aqara light switch supports several types of circuits, like single pole and 3-way. It’s essential to make sure that your wiring matches one of these supported configurations. In a 3-way setup, ensure that the Aqara switch is used on one end, with the other end being a standard switch.

  2. Correct Wiring: Double-check that the live wire, neutral wire, and load wire are correctly identified and connected. Usually, the live wire is black or red, the neutral wire is white or grey, and the load wire is typically black or brown. Incorrect wiring can lead to the switch not operating properly or even causing a short circuit.

  3. Professional Assistance: If you’re still having trouble, it might be worthwhile to consult a professional electrician. They can verify the wiring and ensure everything is configured correctly.

If you’ve tried these steps and the issue persists, it might be helpful to seek further assistance from the community or Aqara’s customer service. Don’t hesitate to reach out—sometimes a fresh set of eyes can pinpoint something that might have been overlooked. Happy troubleshooting!

@smgron It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky 3-way setup! From the reference information, Aqara’s 3-way switch setup has a specific requirement: in a 3-way circuit, only one switch should be the Aqara switch, and the other end needs to be a normal standard switch (not another 3-way switch). Additionally, both the old and new switch circuits must be rewired according to the provided diagram .

Since your electrician has checked the wiring, it might be worth verifying if the “regular 3-way switch” you’re using is indeed a standard switch (not a 3-way model) and if the rewiring strictly followed Aqara’s diagram. Incorrect wiring can cause the switch to fail to operate, as mentioned in the FAQ .

If you’ve double-checked these points and the issue persists, feel free to share more details about your setup—maybe the community can chime in with similar experiences! For further assistance, you can also contact Aqara Customer Service through the app for more tailored support.

@smgron It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky 3-way setup! Let’s check the details. According to the Aqara Light Switch H2 US installation instructions, for 3-way circuits, only one switch should be the Aqara switch, and the other end needs to be a normal standard switch (not a 3-way switch). Additionally, both the old and new switch circuits must be rewired according to the provided diagram.

Since your current setup uses a regular 3-way switch as the second switch, this might be the cause. Even if the wiring seems correct, the 3-way switch’s functionality could interfere with the Aqara switch when turned off. We recommend confirming with your electrician if the second switch is a standard one and if the rewiring follows the Aqara diagram.
