A bad start with P100

My Aqara Hub M3 has a homekit connection with Apple Home and decided to add the P100 as a Thread device.
The pairing with the Aqara app was without any problems and updating went smoothly.

Checked if the P100 was added to the thread network - OK
Checked if the P100 was added to Apple Keychain - OK

Attached the P100 to the door of my living room and calibrated it.

Opened Apple Home - New accessories - More options.
The P100 was added there and added it without problems.

So far no problems.

I opened the door and the status changed to Open - OK
But after about 3 seconds, without closing the door, the status changed to Closed - Not OK

Calibrating several times did not solve it.

So I delete the P100 in the Aqara app, Apple Home app, and in Settings-Matter devices on my iPhone.

I opened the Aqara app and paired it as a Zigbee Door and Windows sensor without any problems and the opening and closing of the living room door worked without any problems.

Frustrated that it did not work as a thread device, I deleted the P100 in the Aqara app and did a factory reset of the P100

And now the fun begins:

During the pairing proces the Aqara app wanted me to add the P100 as a “Matter Device”, not with the full name of the P100.
That is not how it should be, so I stopped the pairing proces, checked if nothing was added to the Aqara app and started the pairing proces again.

As soon as the Aqara app found the P100 my HomePod mini’s (one of them is the Thread border router) stopped playing and the P100 again came up as a “Matter Device”.

OK - I have a problem.

I realized it may be a good thing to shut down my iPhone and restart it.
I also did a factory reset of the P100 and removed the battery for a few second.
After that, the pairing proces as a Thread device went as it should.
The P100 was added to the Thread network and Apple Keychain and adding the P100 to Apple Home was as easy as the first time.

But dit it work as it should now?

I calibrated the P100 and opened the door.
The status changed to opened and did not change.
I closed the door and the status changed to closed.

For two days now it is working without even missing one opening or closing of the door *.

What the problem was, I don’t know.
Maybe I should have restarted my iPhone after removing the P100 as a Thread device.
For now I think it has more to do with my Thread network and me than the P100.

  • The living room door is not the door I want to use the P100 for so I used a piece of tape to attach it. After frequently using the door the tape loosened a bit on one side and the P100 tilted a little bit.
It immediately stopped working (sensitivity set to 5).
It shows how sensitive the device is.

For now I am really happy with the P100 and will buy more of them.

Hi @JRS54 did you updated the P100 or on which firmware are running it?

@DEChrisE After the first time pairing the P100 as a Thread device, I immediately updated it to 1.0.0.2, before adding the P100 to Apple Home.
