I use my FP2 sensor to sense when i have been sitting in the sofa for too long. When the timer pass, i get a notice on the mobile to get up and move.
This is silly, I know, but could be used for other purposes, like when sitting at a desk all day, and get a reminder to get up and move around every hour for example…
My setup actually helped me not to doomscroll all day, and even though i often just ignore the notice, I sometimes actually get up from my behind and does something else…

Do you think my kids will disown me if I steal this idea for their time in their gaming computer chair?
Detect if they have been in the chair for over an hour, if yes Annouce “time for some exercise” in chair for 90 minutes, smart plug turns off their monitor…
Maybe you could make it even more effective: instead of just sending a notification, set it up so you have to press a physical button (placed away from the couch) within a certain time to prevent an alarm from going off. That way, you can’t just ignore the notification — it actually forces you to get up.
Now you’ve opened Pandora’s box… I immediately checked if there’s a Home Assistant integration for my Peloton bike. And guess what – there really is nothing that can’t be integrated. I can pull all the workout data straight into Home Assistant.
Which means… I could actually set it up so the wine cellar stays locked until I’ve burned 500 kcal on the bike. Want a glass of wine? Sure – but only after you’ve pedaled for it.
What a (brilliantly stupid) idea!
And always remember: If your car is smarter than your house… you’re driving into the future while living in the past.
