To my frustration, the switch remained undetected. I wondered if it was a WiFi signal issue, but it was in the same box as another HS200 that worked flawlessly. Enhancing Security with Location Entities
Another area I’ve explored is improving my home security system. I’ve been using entity trackers linked to our mobile phones and the Home Assistant companion app to trigger alarms when we arrive home. While this setup works most of the time, there have been instances where the alarm didn’t deactivate quickly enough, leaving us in an uncomfortable situation. I’ve explored using MQTT and Node-RED for communication with legacy systems, but integrating all components into a user-friendly interface remains a work in progress.
