I recently installed this lock in my home, and while the immediate actions like ‘I’m Back’ worked perfectly, I faced some challenges with location awareness and smart presence features. Here’s how I tackled them:
Initially, I noticed that the lock wasn’t responding correctly to location-based actions. My girlfriend and I set up both our phones and smart presence key rings to open the door when we were 100 meters away. However, the lock wouldn’t trigger as expected. After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the issue was with how the location services were configured on our devices. Ensuring that location services were enabled and that the necessary permissions were granted resolved the problem.
Another challenge was incorrect notifications about my girlfriend leaving or returning home. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by the lock’s sensitivity to nearby movements. Adjusting the sensitivity settings in the SmartThings app helped mitigate this issue.
I also explored using IFTTT to create custom automations, but the native integration with SmartThings proved to be more reliable once the settings were fine-tuned. It’s been a learning process, but now the lock works seamlessly with our daily routines.
