Adaptive Volume and Alexa Control Integration

I’ve been exploring ways to integrate my Alexa devices with my home automation setup, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey! One feature I’ve been particularly interested in is the adaptive volume setting. I turned it on a while back, expecting it to adjust the volume based on the ambient noise in my living room. However, much to my surprise, I wasn’t entirely convinced by how it performed. I ended up turning it off, thinking it wasn’t quite what I needed. But here’s the kicker—despite disabling it on my end, all my Alexa devices still seem to be using adaptive volume. That’s puzzling!

I’ve tried troubleshooting by checking for updates, unplugging the devices, and even signing out of my Amazon account. None of these steps have made a difference. It’s as if the adaptive volume feature is hardcoded into these devices, which is frustrating because I’d prefer to have full control over the volume settings myself.

On another note, I’ve been working on setting up my Wyze plug to control the volume of my Yamaha stereo receiver. This was working perfectly until a few weeks ago when the feature suddenly stopped functioning. There have been no changes to my system, and all my apps are up to date. I’m at a loss as to why this happened and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or insights from the community on how to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, I’ve been experimenting with integrating my TP-Link devices into my Home Assistant setup using the Kasa Cloud API. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but the results are promising. I’ve managed to automate my lights and power plugs, and it’s been a great way to enhance my home’s smart capabilities without relying on local APIs. For anyone interested, I’ve documented my process and created some bash scripts that might be helpful. Feel free to check them out and let me know your thoughts!

Overall, it’s been a mix of triumphs and challenges as I navigate the world of smart home integration. I’m excited to continue exploring new ways to optimize my setup and would love to hear about your experiences and tips as well!
