Add the W100 in the Aquara App

Hi, I am new with Aqara products, I just received the W100 that I am planning to use with an automation to control the relative humidity in a room. However, its seems that without an Aqara Matter hub there is no way to connect to the sensor. Is this correct? Being a Matter sensor, it should not impose such conditions, any Matter hub/controller should do (I have a HomePod and an Apple TV).

I can include the W100 without any difficulty in my Apple Home, but I can’t add it to the Aqara App. I need this only to configure the sensor and to perform firmware updates. If this is true, then I find it hilarious, as a matter of fact, I can see many sensor parameters in the Eve App (which is a third party App), but not in Aqara own’s app?!

Are any workarounds? I don’t want to buy another hub/gateway/controller, I have already enough of them. I thought that Matter makes all this suff obsolete.

Hello, welcome to the forum, if you already have an Aqara gateway, then the following steps are for switching to Zigbee. 1. Remove W100 from the APP. 2. Start the installation again. 3. On the first installation window, select the Zigbee protocol. The switch will take some time. Then everything is standard.
The gateway that supports matter is not binding.

Thank you for the answer, but this is the point (that I mentioned in my post): I don’t have an Aqara gateway and I don’t want to have one! Seems that Aqara is still a long way to Matter, they need to implement it in the App itself (Matter over TCP/IP). Till then, the sensor goes back… sorry.
