Hi everyone, I just finished setting up the Aqara M3 and the process was super fast and easy! Now I’m trying to connect the M3 to my main hub (Homey Pro), but I’ve got a few questions:
When I added my first T2 GU10 to the Aqara hub, it asked which protocol to use. I chose Zigbee instead of Thread — was that the right option?
I paired the M3 hub with Homey through Matter. Is that the correct way?
When my Aqara bulb is connected to Homey Pro, it shows up as two devices: the T2 bulb and the M3 hub. Is that normal?
I tried making my first flow using the mobile app. I can see the flow card in the “When” section, but when I switch to “And” or “Then” and try to select the T2 GU10, it doesn’t show up in app section!! (screenshot attached).
In Aqara thread discovery page I see only 2 thread network the Apple TV one ( it is off and I don’t know how to delete it) and Aqara one, where is the homey pro thread network? Is it important to connect the m3 hub to it?
Feels like I’m doing something wrong, but I’m not sure what.
Choosing Zigbee is totally valid! The Aqara LED Bulb T2 (GU10) supports both Thread (default) and Zigbee protocols, and you can switch later if needed. Since the Aqara Hub M3 can connect Zigbee and Thread child devices simultaneously, your Zigbee-connected T2 will work seamlessly with the M3. Whether Zigbee or Thread is “right” depends on your needs—Zigbee is a solid choice if you’re already using a Zigbee ecosystem!
Yes, pairing the M3 with Homey through Matter is correct. The M3 itself serves as a Matter Bridge, which allows it to connect Zigbee and IR devices to Matter-supported platforms like Homey. This is the recommended way to integrate with third-party hubs like Homey Pro.
This is normal! Since the M3 acts as a Matter Bridge, it may appear as a separate device in Homey Pro alongside the bridged T2 bulb. The hub itself and the devices it bridges can both be recognized in the ecosystem.
4. T2 bulb not showing in flow sections (“And”/“Then”):
It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with the T2 GU10 not appearing in Homey Pro’s flow card sections. Maybe our Aqara Experts can help you @Creator@Expert@Moderator , or you can contact customer support for assistance.
5. Missing Homey Pro Thread network in Aqara’s Thread discovery:
Thread network visibility can depend on your ecosystem’s specific settings (e.g., Homey Pro’s Thread Border Router configuration). Since the reference information doesn’t cover Homey Pro’s Thread network details, checking Homey’s official guides or reaching out to their support team might clarify this.
Hope this helps! If you run into more snags, don’t hesitate to share—community troubleshooting is half the fun.

Hi @fmg80s,
Just to clarify your set up. You said you are set up this way:
T2 Bulb –zigbee–> M3 --Matter–> Homey Pro.
This is totally fine. Then in Homey you will see the M3 Hub itself and the child devices (in this case the T2). You can also pair the T2 directly to Homey without the M3.
I think we missed your screenshot of Homey. Can you send that? The device should be available in all Flow sections.
Now as far as your thread network. It’s likely that your Homey automatically joined your existing thread network. Go to Settings > Thread and you can see the name of the network. If your M3 has it’s own thread network I would also consolidate these and make them one network. But I cannot guarantee how this may affect your child devices and whether they will need to be reset.
