Adding Matter Device to M3, then Expose to Alexa

Hi all,
First time I’ve addressed this scenario, so accept my apologies if this is a simple question.

I have an Aqara M3 Hub and many Aqara devices that are connected to the M3 via Zigbee. As these include the older (H1) devices and newer (H2) devices to expose all of these to Alexa, I have to use both the Alexa integration and add the M3 to Alexa for the Matter Bridge.

I’ve now added a Matter device to my Aqara M3 Hub. Should the M3’s Matter Bridge expose this to Alexa or should I have to add the Matter device into Alexa myself using the code shown in the Alexa app?

Thanks

Hi @JohnD,
Any more tips for adding a Matter device that’s added to an M3, to Home Assistant?
The above worked for Alexa but isn’t working for HA :frowning:

I have a Matter bulb added to my M3. I go into the Aqara app and select the bulb → Three dots at the top → Third Party Ecosystems → Matter Pairing Code. This then provides a QR code and pairing number (E.G. 1234-456-8901).

I go into HA, and try to add the Matter device.
I select Add Matter Device → Yes, it’s already in use → Other controller. I then have tried entering the pairing number as 1234-456-8901 and 12344568901 but the pairing fails.

The provided process worked for Alexa but not HA :frowning:

Any thoughts?

Hello.

Please check whether HA has received an IPv6 address:

Settings → System → Network → Configure network interfaces → IPv6.

If an IPv6 address is available, please post the first four characters of each address shown.

On what hardware does HA run?

Would you like to integrate Matter over Thread or Matter over WiFi Bulb?

And are you using the Matter Server add-on in HA?

Yep, that was it. Changed IPV6 from Disabled to Automatic and all worked!

Thanks for the quick response and solution.
