Addressing Excessive DNS Queries from Wyze Devices

Recently, I’ve noticed an unusual increase in DNS queries from my Wyze devices on my home network. I currently have nearly 100 devices connected, and I run a custom-built home automation platform, so network traffic is something I monitor closely. The Wyze devices, specifically five of them, are sending DNS queries every minute—sometimes multiple times a minute. While this hasn’t caused any major issues, it’s certainly a nuisance and adds unnecessary traffic to my network.

I’ve read through some older posts where others have mentioned similar issues, and it was suggested that this might be a bug that would be addressed in future updates. However, these posts were from quite some time ago, and I’m hoping there’s been progress or a workaround in the meantime.

I’ve included some screenshots showing the DNS query logs over a 10-minute and 7-day period to give a clearer picture of the traffic volume. It’s clear that the Wyze devices are contributing a significant portion of the DNS activity, which is unexpected given their limited functionality.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any steps I can take to mitigate this, or is this something that Wyze is actively working on? I’d love to hear if others have found a solution or if this is a known issue that’s being addressed.

Thanks in advance for any insights or advice!
