Hey everyone, I’m trying to set up AdGuard on my Home Assistant instance, and I’m running into a bit of a snag. Let me walk through what I’ve done so far and where I’m getting stuck.
First off, I’ve got AdGuard installed on my HA server with the IP address 192.168.1.229. I’ve manually set this DNS on my Windows machine, and it’s working like a charm. But here’s the thing—my smart devices, like my Samsung TV, don’t let me manually input the DNS IP. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get AdGuard to block ads on YouTube when streaming through my TV.
From what I understand, AdGuard should handle DNS queries, but when I check the dashboard, it seems like the TV’s IP (192.168.1.246) isn’t going through AdGuard. I’ve attached some screenshots showing the setup and the dashboard view. It’s a bit confusing because everything else seems to be working fine.
I’ve also tried setting up a separate DNS zone for the TV, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Maybe I’m missing something in the configuration? I’ve heard that some devices require a different approach, like using DHCP options or router-level settings, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement that.
If anyone has successfully blocked ads on their smart TV using AdGuard, I’d love to hear how you did it! Any tips or tricks would be super helpful. I’m really looking forward to getting this sorted out so I can enjoy ad-free streaming on all my devices. Thanks in advance for your help! ![]()
