Adjusting Motion Sensors for Pets and Integrating Door Sensors

I’ve been really enjoying setting up my smart home, but there’s been one challenge that’s been on my mind—adjusting the motion sensors to account for our growing dog. I’ve noticed that some sensors are too sensitive and get triggered by even the slightest movement, which isn’t ideal, especially when our dog is just moving around the house. Does anyone have tips on how to fine-tune the sensitivity settings? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tricks you’ve picked up!

On another note, I’ve been exploring how to integrate different types of door sensors into my system. I recently came across the Xfinity door sensors and was impressed by how they work with SmartThings. I thought I’d share my setup process in case anyone else is looking to do something similar:

  1. Pairing the Sensor: Remove the battery, press the switch on top, insert the battery, and wait for the light to turn on.
  2. Adding to SmartThings: After pairing, head to the IDE and select the device. Under the device settings, choose the appropriate type—like Tyco Door/Window Sensor.
  3. Testing: Once everything is set up, test the sensor to ensure it’s working as expected.

It’s been a great addition to my setup, and I’m curious to know if others have tried similar integrations or have recommendations for other sensors that work well with SmartThings.

Let’s keep the conversation going! I’d love to hear how others have optimized their motion sensors and integrated different types of sensors into their systems. Happy smart home tinkering! :rocket:
