Adjusting Night Vision Brightness for Outdoor Cameras

I recently upgraded my outdoor security setup with a Wyze Pan Cam, and while I’m thrilled with its performance, I’ve encountered an interesting challenge with the night vision feature. At dusk, the camera’s night vision adjusts beautifully, providing a clear view of the surroundings. However, as it transitions to full night mode, the brightness becomes overwhelming, creating a white blur that makes it hard to see anything. This issue is particularly noticeable when the camera’s night vision reflects off its own lens, causing a glare that obliterates the surrounding area.

I’ve reached out to Wyze support, and they’ve been incredibly responsive. They mentioned that this is a known issue and are actively working on a firmware update to address it. In the meantime, I’ve found a temporary workaround by manually adjusting the night vision settings through the Wyze app. By tweaking the sensitivity and exposure settings, I’ve managed to reduce the glare while maintaining a usable level of brightness.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered this issue and how they’ve managed to resolve it. Additionally, I’m curious if there’s a way to implement a custom script or automation that adjusts the night vision settings dynamically based on the time of day or light conditions. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

On a positive note, I’m truly impressed with the Wyze Pan Cam’s overall performance. The video quality, motion detection, and integration with my smart home ecosystem have exceeded my expectations. It’s a testament to how far affordable security technology has come. I’m hopeful that with a firmware update, the night vision issue will be resolved, making this camera an even more reliable addition to my security setup.
