Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share some cool stuff I’ve been doing with my Aqara gear lately. I’m a bit of a smart home geek (okay, maybe more than a bit), and I’ve been diving deep into what these devices can really do beyond the default features.
First off, I integrated my Aqara motion sensors with my Home Assistant setup and layered in some time-based automations. So now, lights behave differently depending on time of day — soft amber at night and regular white in the morning. Super helpful when you’re zombie-walking your way to the fridge at 2 AM.
Also, did you all know you can use the vibration sensor creatively? I stuck one on my mailbox — now I get a notification when the postman opens it. Simple but effective. Thinking of putting another on the washing machine to detect when it’s done.
One slightly geekier thing — using Zigbee2MQTT, I unlocked some hidden attributes for finer control, like adjusting sensitivity levels on the motion sensor and tweaking timeout durations. Definitely requires some research and a bit of trial and error though.
Curious if anyone else here is doing more “under the hood” tweaks with their Aqara devices? Let’s trade some tips. I feel like these little gadgets have way more potential than people give them credit for.
Cheers!
