A battery-powered Zigbee sensor transmits information (activates the communication channel) to any Aqara gateway only at the moment a new measurement is taken (in the case of a thermometer) or when a state changes (for other types of sensors). This signal is generated solely by the sensor itself, without any request from the gateway (autonomous operation). This is done to conserve battery life. Consequently, after a gateway reboot, the sensor’s status remains unchanged until a new signal is received from the sensor. In contrast, devices connected to a neutral wire (220V)—which act as repeaters—transmit information via the Zigbee channel immediately.
