AirPods Pro 3 ANC

AirPods Pro 3 having double the ANC of the previous generation is the feature I’m looking forward to most. Since I’m autistic, I use Siri a lot to control lights to prevent getting overwhelmed or overstimulated. I’ve only just begun using other Aqara accessories, like the button switch, with lights at different levels depending on the time so that bathroom trips don’t blind me in the night. I’m looking at trying presence sensors to make things a little less obtrusive looking for my partner

Tips. I find myself really irritated when some automations don’t go my way, found myself often annoying everybody else in my house obsessing over trying to fix them. Make sure when you’re doing your sensor automations, it’s at your convenience and more importantly, everybody else’s convenience.

For extremely simple on/off automations for like a pantry/closet, just keep it super simple. Door sensor with a smart bulb to control the brightness and temp.

For small rooms, the FP1E or the upcoming FP300 are great sensors for fairly precise presence.

For large rooms, the FP2 is a rockstar. While it’s a wifi device so it’s a little sluggish, the ability to pull rooms into zones and come up with a million different automations is way too useful.

Example: I use an FP2 in my master bedroom, it runs the lamps at high brightness, but as you approach the bedside, the brightness cuts in half. When you get into bed, the lights turn off.

Edit: If you fidget, consider the cube and some small automations that are just for you.

The FP2 does look like a powerhouse when it comes to automating. I’m trying out a P2 Door Sensor soon, and have some old HomeKit motion sensors, so I’ve been tinkering with where I want the coverage, kinda hoping the FP2 would work in the same spots, and it sounds like it’ll perform way better than standard motion sensors!

There’s almost too much you can do with the FP2, I’ve found myself backing down some of the room sections I had created.

The door and normal motion sensors are nice, for the P1 especially I use that in closets and we have a FL toilet room. We use the aqara app for automation for that sensor, the “stop detecting after 1 minute” turns it into a hybrid presence sensor for places you move often.

For bathrooms I would recommend the FP1E if you have wired room, or the FP300 when it releases, being able to detect through the curtain is nice. My son’s automations change for when he’s getting ready, during the day, night, and overnight for his lighting preference.

I was using an old Eve motion sensor in the bathroom. So many showers with me waving frantically over the curtain because it went dark again. Thank you for the tips, it’s helping me rethink some current accessory choices!

When you start to get up and running, there is something that may help that I mentioned earlier. The Cube is a tool that could be quite useful for you.

If you hit a point of over-stimulation, grab that thing and start moving it and flipping it. You could use automations on a lamp that’s out of others view with a single bulb, let it change colors at 1%. Instant distraction tool that’s just for you that won’t bother anybody else.

It’s like ANC for when your brain tries to go 75,000 directions at once :+1:
