Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share my success with using Alexa for geofencing. After a week of testing, I’ve achieved a 100% success rate in managing location modes and presence detection. This has been a game-changer for me, especially for controlling lighting, HVAC, and security cameras.
Here’s how I set it up:
- Virtual Presence Switch: I created a virtual switch in Hubitat called Virtual Presence via Alexa.
- Alexa Routines:
- When this device leaves: Turns off the virtual presence switch.
- When this device arrives: Turns on the virtual presence switch.
- Webcore Piston: I configured a piston to manage location modes based on the virtual presence switch.
The setup has been seamless, and I no longer need to manually adjust settings or deal with false alarms. It’s fantastic to have reliable presence detection integrated into my smart home setup.
