This will enable non-apple users to have a “homekey-like” experience and give product manufacturers a simpler way to implement it. Can’t wait to see how it gets adopted.

Actually I’m rooting for this, because I think some competition in this market would be good. There’s still some confusion about the HomeKey and maybe this new standard will make it more common and will make people more familiar with this technology (or maybe Apple will make it more accessible, who knows).
I’m thinking about how some Apple-specific features where “iPhone hacks” and now they’re common knowledge and some of the features where refined to be better.

I’d say it is better than Homekey.
I must admit, Apple have been impressing me recently with their willingness to co-operate in standards for home automation. A great deal of Matter has been contributed by Apple, as is the same with Alito.
I’m not saying it is altruistic. They lost the smart home wars even though they had the better solution in that it was more secure and local.
