An interesting way to use your Door&Window Sensor! 🤔🤔

Do others also have creative uses of the Door and Window Sensor to share? :grimacing:

I use them in several places. Alarm on refrigerator and freezer (if the doors are not closed again within 3 minutes, an alarm goes off and I get a message in the Aqara app. Turn on the light in the shed when I open the door. I get a message in the Aqara app when the veranda door is opened between 9pm and 7am.

I upgraded the old Aqara sensor. I soldered two wires to the internal reed switch and brought them outside. I use this sensor to
(a) control the water level,
(b) control the operation of a stupid home thermostat to know the state of the heating system (On/Off),
(c) connect it to the reed switch located in the water flow sensor (protection against dry running of the pump),
(d) control various states of equipment where there is a relay with dry contacts.

Conclusion, I always ask myself why Aqara does not make a small connecting contact in sensors where a reed switch is used where you can connect an additional wire (analogous to a leak sensor, where there is a bolt). In the photo, a sensor with an external reed switch to control water leakage (c).
