Anyone recommend the Aqara blinds (or blind controllers)? I’m thinking about adding them to my setup and would love to hear from people who’ve actually used them.
A few specific things I’m curious about:
• How reliable are they day-to-day?
• Which model/setup did you go with (roller, Venetian, smart controller, etc.)?
• How’s compatibility with HomeKit / Google Home / Home Assistant?
• Any issues with installation or repeatability of automations?
• Noise level and speed of movement?
Thanks in advance for any tips or experiences!

@danielgreen91 Thanks for sharing your interest in Aqara smart blinds/controllers! It’s great to hear you’re looking to expand your smart home setup—let me break down what I know based on product details to help you out, and hopefully other community members can chime in with their real-world experiences too!
Reliability
While the reference info doesn’t dive into long-term day-to-day reliability, Aqara’s curtain controllers are designed with features like “slow start and slow stop” (supported by most models, including Curtain Controller (ZigBee), Roller Shade Controller, and C3), which helps reduce wear and tear. Many users also mention the “stop when pulled by hand” function (available on models like C3 and the standard Curtain Controller), which adds convenience and may contribute to durability.
Model Recommendations
Aqara offers several options depending on your needs—here are key models to consider:
- Roller Shade Driver E1: Lightweight (max load 4kg), no socket required, but slower (3-4cm/s) and limited to telescopic straight rails.
- Curtain Driver E1 (Track/Rod): For track or rod-based curtains, max load 8-12kg, 12cm/s speed, no socket needed.
- Curtain Controller C3: Heavy-duty (80kg max load!), supports stepless speed adjustment (4-16cm/s), and works with straight/L/U rails. Great for larger windows!
- Curtain Controller H1: 50kg load, adjustable speeds (5/10/15cm/s), and compatible with straight rails.
Compatibility
All Aqara curtain controllers require an Aqara Hub for smart features. For HomeKit, they work seamlessly when paired with an Aqara Hub. Unfortunately, the reference info doesn’t mention Google Home or Home Assistant compatibility—you may want to check Aqara’s official docs or community threads for that!
Installation & Automations
Installation depends on the model, but most require:
- A power socket (except battery-powered drivers like Roller Shade Driver E1).
- Solid walls (hollow/gypsum boards aren’t recommended).
- Specific track types (e.g., C3 supports straight/L/U rails, while Roller Shade Controller only works with telescopic straight rails).
As for automations, the controllers support remote control and timer functions via the Aqara Home App, but real-world repeatability can vary—community feedback might help here!
Noise & Speed
If you need more details (like Google Home integration or specific user experiences), feel free to ask the community—many of us have hands-on experience! For official support, you can also contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please

Are the Roller Shade Drivers E1s available in the USA? I cant seem to find them and I get a 404 error when I click the link in the above messages.
@seth_lippman The Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 is not available for the US market. For other countries, you can purchase from the official channel: https://www.aqara.com/en/where-to-buy/. If you encountered a 404 error with the link, it might be due to regional restrictions or link updates. Feel free to check the official website directly for the latest purchase information
