Aqara camera G100 - detection issues

I’ve installed five G100 cameras around my summer house along with a single G5 in one place (bought first two models to compare). We’ve also payed for a yearly subscription to have extra features and cloud storage.

I’m very happy with the price, functions, the picture.

The challange I’m facing is that detection just doesn’t work correctly. For most of the time we are not there, and cameras are reporting false positives - few times a day.

I’ve already tried to improve it by configuration:

  • I’ve limited detection to movement, person and animals.
  • changed person detection > sensitivity to Low/Medium
  • disabled audio recording
  • reported feeedback via app many times, never got any reply

I could accept sun/wind/insects triggering motion, but in most cases it’s “person detected” where there’s literally nothing on the video.

This makes guard function useless, since I’m getting every day trigger and alarms turns on.

I want to install more cameras, so decision I have to make is either sell/trash what I have and choose different brand or get somehow that fixed and buy more.

Any suggestions? Does anyone is using G100 for security in similar scenario and have better results? If someone from the support is present here, I’d appreciate your help. Thank you!

Hello, before you throw the baby out with the dirty bath water please allow some of the experts on here try to assist you.

I do not own any G100 cameras bit do own several G5 Pro cameras which are installed around the perimeter of my house and do detect persons and animals really well.

I do not have any cloud subscription and therefore am unable to comment on how it interperets objects but again I hope someone on here can assist you.

definitely, I really like the ecosystem and despite detection all is good.

BTW I was hesistating between G5 and G100, unfortunatelly in the place we have a house, there’s a complete darkness - even with very good lenses G5 did not make it at cloudy nights or without a moon

I’ve also noticed that there was an update fixing detection few days ago, I’m installing it now, let’s see if it helps

I have a g100 also, and it’s in a basement utility closet with low light and had issues detecting motion as well.

Two things helped me:
1- update firmware to latest

2- enabling night vision with spotlight can help if it’s extreme dark, under video settings

Hello, I’m an algorithm engineer at Aqara. I’m sorry to hear that the detection performance hasn’t been very good in your case. For the false positives related to human detection, could you please send us some video samples via private message? After we analyze them, I’ll get back to you with feedback.

Regarding motion detection, the underlying principle is detecting changes in the image. In other words, any pixel change beyond a certain threshold can trigger an event. If you only care about people or pets, we recommend turning off the motion detection feature and using human or pet detection instead.
