Migrating from ring cameras. Ring has this feature called linked devices where it motion is detected by one camera, it triggers recording for all other cameras that are linked to it. I am wondering if Aqara cameras has this feature as well? Right now I just have the G400 doorbell, but if say I get the G5 or some other camera, I like the G5 to trigger recording on the G400 or vice versa depending on who detects motion first.
Thanks all.

@brickpreviews Hi there! Welcome to the Aqara family!
It’s great to have you here, especially while you’re making the switch from Ring. That “linked device” functionality you mentioned is definitely a handy feature for comprehensive coverage.
Regarding your question about Aqara cameras triggering recordings on each other: Aqara does support linking smart devices to cameras to trigger recordings or send notifications. This means you can connect various Aqara devices (like sensors or other hubs) to your camera so that when they detect an event, the camera can record or alert you. This feature has been revamped to make it easier to set up and includes new event tagging and filtering options to help you find those clips quickly.

However, it’s important to note that this typically involves linking other Aqara devices (such as motion sensors, door/window sensors, or door locks) to the camera, rather than one Aqara camera directly triggering the recording of another Aqara camera in the same way Ring’s specific “linked devices” feature might work across its own ecosystem. The G400 and G5 can both be linked to devices to trigger their respective recordings, but cross-camera triggering (G5 triggering G400’s recording directly) isn’t described as a direct camera-to-camera link in the current documentation.
If you find that this specific cross-camera triggering workflow is essential for your setup, I’d recommend reaching out to our support team to see if there are any advanced automation workarounds or updates available for your specific devices.
